Glad you feel that way. I can think of a few times in past I’ve changed your name on this forum.

    Elbows up!

        (It's pedantry Friday)

"America" is not a a country. There are two continents, North and South, called "America." I may be wrong but the only large body of water named after a nation is the Indian Ocean.

We live in the United States of America.

I think it would be reasonable to name it "Gulf of The Americas". It does cover Central America also.

Or we could call it the "Gulf of the United States". Mexico official name is "United Mexican States" so it would work for them also. LOL

That's my suspicion too. We used to do it all the time in contracts - put something ridiculous in there you know they will reject and it makes it easier to keep what you really wanted.

Google said it would change the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” for users inside the United States once the Interior Department officially changes what it calls the body of water in its official naming system.
People in Mexico will continue to see the Gulf of Mexico name, while those outside both countries will see both names, Google said Monday in a post on X.
