Saw an interview with Tim Walz who assured us that that was, indeed, a Nazi salute. Of course, the MSNBC 'interviewer' didn't ask about the video of him doing the same thing.

About 20 years ago he got a tattoo resembling a totenkopf in Croatia with his Marine buddies when on leave. He claims, plausibly in my mind, to not have known the meaning at the time. Various ex-marines that were there about that time seem to confirm that they just thought it was a badass symbol for a marine in his 20s to have as a tattoo.

He claims, far less plausibly, to never have learned its true meaning until last year when he was already running and it became a story. He then had it removed or covered. I think the more likely scenario is he learned the meaning sometime in the interim. I think there’s evidence to that effect.

That's new. Never heard the term totenkopf before. But you might as well call him a pirate.

Yeah I don’t think I would have said ‘that’s a Nazi symbol’ if I saw it at a tattoo shop. Though it’s immediately believable if someone points it out.
