One of the nurses I worked with was scammed by a guy she met on FB.

He told her that he was a former fighter pilot and transitioned to CIA. However, there were people who were trying to get him in the CIA, so he needed financial help to fight these people. He convinced her that she should sign over a significant part of her 401(k) so that he could fund his defense against these people.

When she asked him for a picture of himself, he sent her what appeared to be a photo like the one you get when you buy a new wallet.

She lost a TON of money.

It is sad and only going to be easier to fool people. It used to be that if you received a email or text, the language was so bad that you knew it was from overseas, etc.

Pictures were poor, etc.

It’s sad. I hear middle aged women say often that they get friend requests from soldiers deployed overseas and it’s always a scam.

I saw the Brad Pitt thing tonight in news. Life is hard. it's even harder when you're stupid.
