I sent this to D2, saying, "You read papers all the time, right?"
And she responded:
"I have a reputation for being pretty harsh in my grading, and I'm apparently directly responsible for 2 students' withdrawal from our program because of that. But this kind of feedback is a stretch even for me.
Also, this course is English 015, not a 500-level course. This is pretty consistent with that developmental level.
As my dean has told me several times in writing, lower your expectations. "
