“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Inevitably saps some of the fan enjoyment, but as humans we can understand the motivations involved.

      Education is extremely important.

I thought the NIL would help with some of this crap.

Tomlin would call it living in your fears. I think that if they were trying to decide between 2 players and one pulled this shit, we would lean the other way.

Tomlin has always impressed me as a thoughtful guy. I know you don't like him too much, but if he was my coach, I'd be pleased.

I think Tomlin is an 80% guy. 80% of the guy is a brilliant coach. Maybe the best. But the other 20% is tragically flawed.

That's ok, the Saints need a coach and there have been rumors...

So you agree that he's a philosophical dude who can teach, but there is something bad, so what are the bad parts? I remember Mike McCarthy and his awful game-time decisions, is it that sort of thing?

                        1. Everybody keeps looking at how Antonio Brown fell apart away from the Steelers. The same with Chase Claypool, Dionte Johnson, etc… And they state it’s evidence that Tomlin can handle those type of personalities better than other coaches… I’m starting to see it as a troubling pattern. Is he creating an environment that allows the most narcissistic traits of the receivers to flourish and is it an attitude that other teams aren’t going to put up with…

                        2. He routinely screws up challenges and clock management. He plays his hunches as opposed to having a team running video review after each play to determine whether a play should be reviewed. Or determining the proper use of timeouts.

                        3. His teams are never prepared for the playoffs, going 3-7 over the last 10 years with some embarrassing blowouts including losing to Tim Tebow in 16, Blake Bortles in 18 (allowed him to score 45 points), and Cleveland in 21. A similar theme in all of the losses is coming out flat and going down by large deficits early in the game. 35-7 against Cleveland, 21-0 against Jax, 21-0 Buffalo, 35-7 KC, etc… Tomlin has a problem getting his teams to flip the switch from regular season to postseason, and by the time that they do, it’s already too late. His only playoff successes came from a team that he inherited that had 5 Hall of Fame worthy veterans on it and about a dozen all pros. He had a Hall of Fame Defensive Coordinator and an Offensive Coordinator that went on to win a Superbowl as a HC, and was a 2X AP Coach of the Year winner.

Once those coaches were gone, Tomlin had more day to day control of both Offense and Defense and as the Cowher veterans started retiring, the team started struggling.

I don’t want to diminish what Tomlin’s accomplished. It means something to go 20 years without a losing season. But it really feels like there is a ceiling that he’s having trouble breaking through.

Oh, he also sucks at QB evaluation. As evidence, I present the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2022 1st Round QB Selection
