Whatever happened to "Datsun."
It'll be interesting.to see what their lineup will look like. I'd guess Honda > Nissan.

Their are some strengths. The Nissan Leaf sells pretty well in Europe and is a fairly affordable city EV. Honda makes the best CV transmissions in the biz. Nissan has a reputation for motor performance, Honda for reliability.
Mitsubishi? Excellent diesel motors. Crappy cars.

Mitsubishi crappy cars?
Guess that's a flawed generalisation.
We have had two Mitsubishi's: a Lancer and a Colt. Both very decent cars in every regard. -

The coffee and doughnut shop gossip up here in the North maintains that Mitsubishi cars and SUV’s have a reliable and solid reputation. Damn good in winter driving conditions.

I don't think it's flawed. At least if you're getting the same product we are. Talk to several mechanics and see what they say.
OTOH, you live in a world where people actually buy Fiats.

Never mind all this foreign stuff - I've owned two Fords! One burst into flames when I stopped at the lights, the other oner fell to pieces due to the entropy apparently created when I didn't drive it for 2 weeks during Covid.
And no, I didn't make this up.

I have heard similar stories from friends who at one time owned vehicles known as Jeep.

I have to admit that the one that spontaneously combusted was almost certainly built in Britain.

I have owned two Fords. I had no issue with either. Then again I never owned either for more than three or four years.
Really like my 12 year old Nissan Frontier Pro 4 X.

Somewhat related (and I apoligize if this is covered on another forum thread (I am working my way through old threads) but the former president of Suzuki just passed away.
Suzuki as a car is quite popular in Asia, and I was surprised to not see any in the US. But, he deicded to focus on mini cars, which will sell in Asia but not so much in the US. In addition
The automaker sold about 3.2 million vehicles worldwide in the fiscal year that ended in March 2024, trailing Japan’s dominant carmaker and world No. 1 Toyota, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. More than half of those vehicles were sold in India, where the company’s Indian unit, Maruti Suzuki, holds the lion’s share.

They’ve gotten better since the Model Ts.

I’ve owned 8, beaters all except for one cherry 67 Mustang I bought in San Diego. It was ok, as was a 65 Galaxy that someone dropped a 240 6 cylinder truck engine into. It was indestructible. The rest were nightmares.
