Not sure if I should be surprised by this.
It’s hard to be a physician and not many children have what it takes to be a physician.
It stands to reason that few are encouraged to be one.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Are there some common reasons for that answer?

            Education is extremely important.

The physicians I know that are happiest tend to have jobs with lots of variation - they do some clinical work, some teaching, lots of mentoring, some research, and some clinical trials, deliver talks at conferences, etc. The more you're a cog in the machine, the less satisfied you are.

I do clinical work. I teach. Have mentees. Recruit for trials. Talk at conferences. And I’m exhausted. So there.

And none of my kids went into medicine.

Yup. I admit it. Guilty as charged. Summer 2025 I’m dropping down to a three day work week.
