We’re not exactly in the bougie downtown district, but… The building my store is in was bought recently by a fairly famous commercial developer and builder in the area. Most of the commercial development in our area has this guy’s name on it (though most of the other developments he builds but doesn’t own). The other two businesses in our building were taken out, and a veterinarian and bougie pet salon were put into their spaces. Our total square footage is 8K. Theirs is 40K. The building management (not the contractor that owns the building) let slip to me that our rent is significantly higher than the rent paid by the Vet/Salon. Of course, the vet that owns the business is the contractors daughter…
