You know, I read With the Old Breed again the other day.

There is no way I can conceive of a woman winning a knife fight in a foxhole with a male soldier or carrying a wounded buddy off the side of a hill.

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

If only one can do it, then all get credit.

I hear you. Women will have to provide that input.

Read more about Vietnam then, I'd suggest. Knife fight? Hell, sometimes they strapped explosives onto their own children. (And if you knew anything about knife fights, you know then that Kali practitioners are the undisputed masters and always have been. That's why our own combat training steals heavily from it. Their techniques work very well for women. I'd wager a Filipino woman with a karambit she knows how to use over any Marine with standard training in a knife fight.)

As for women Marines, just have the proper training requirements. If they don't pass they don't pass.

The Legion has a great program for this. You go through intense training to even be a candidate, and on week 1, the officers start meeting to discuss whether or not they want you. About 14% are even invited to be candidates after that. If they pass that, they're Legionnaires.

            Please love yourself.

A young lad dropped by my house today, who served a hitch in the Corps and did one tour in Afghanistan.

              His opinion? One word...

              Clusterfuck.

He said there might be a few gals that could pack a combat load in the 110 degree heat, but they would be far and few between.

I'd post my shocked face if I could find it. I think it's worn out.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I agree with both assessments. But it'd be a cluster because of inflexibility to change, not because women by virtue of being women would destroy the military.

As for who could pass muster, I don't care if it's one out of 100,000. If that's what it is then that's what it is.

That inflexibility to change thing ended about 40 years ago.

The use of it as an excuse ended about 10 years ago.

He also talked about the problems with unit cohesion and women in an outfit. Another thing he touched on, was the attitude of indigenous Muslims towards American female soldiers or Marines.
