Ooh...Money quote...We've replaced religion with politics.
That's one to chew on a mite.
Most religions teach tolerance. Most. At least for many things. But politics elevates intolerance to an art form and a power tactic.

Self-righteous people used to tend towards becoming religious, but all the awful stuff that caused gave religion a bad reputation in contemporary popular culture. But self-righteousness emerged unscathed. Now all the self-righteous people gravitate towards leftist politics. The anti-social psychology and behaviors remain. It was never religion, it was always self-righteousness. That's why humility is my favorite teaching of Christianity. It's a super important aspect.
