About that Des Moines Register poll...

Hannity had the pollsters from Trafalgar and Inside Advantage on tonight. Both were fairly accurate in their polling, with Trafalgar being within a point in almost every state they polled.

Hannity asked about why the Des Moines poll was so far off.

The reply from the Trafalgar guy? Polls are done for two reasons, to reflect the vote or to affect the vote.

Des Moines was an attempt to affect the vote. Nobody else had those numbers.

It’s not intuitive that the effect of a poll is to create votes in conformance with the poll. If a surprise poll came out and it made me think my side was losing, it would motivate me to vote.
