Doesn't Gascon have a while to "reconsider" the sentence before he leaves office?

What I don't understand is how Gascon survived two (?) recall votes, and managed to lose by 23 points.

This particular case may have a lot to do with it. The rehabilitation aspect is nonsense. There are things you simply cannot come back from.
