Hotels in Manhattan?

I usually stay in Chelsea. (Lots of places there, I’ve liked le soleil on 35th st.) I like Chelsea because it’s basically walking distance near everything and subways are perfect. Times sq abit too crowded with tourists for my taste.

Take into account that hotel rooms in manhattan are much smaller than your typical franchise hotel. But that’s just the way it is.

Honestly I don’t. Since I live in Westchester, I only stay for special occasions and then I go pretty high end (like when I take Mayla to a show for her birthday).

When people visit here I put them in the local Hilton and Garden.

I think you get the best service from the classics.

Double Tree. They have junior suites. And you can get their yummy cookies.

Times Square is a madhouse.

Thanks for the recommendations! Hotel is booked. It’s a short visit, and so far we plan on going to the Natural History Museum, Rockefeller Center, and shopping in Times Square. I’m contemplating a show, but not sure a 5 year old is ready to sit quietly through 2 hours, even if it’s Aladdin or The Lion King. I’m wondering if the NY Big Top Circus at Lincoln Center would be a better choice? Any recommendations? Also, any other recommendations, including restaurants? I don’t even plan on eating breakfast at the hotel… There should be some epic bagel joints and/or diners, no?

Go to Phoebe’s in the Bowery for a Bengals game. It’s the Manhattan Bengals bar and pretty fun. Or, if you hate your wife, there’s probably a Steelers bar somewhere.

The Neapolitan pizza joint sounds good. A perfect Neapolitan is always a hit with me. Found a place in NOLA called Margot’s. Almost worth moving for.

The Edge might be cool for a five year old, or it might be scary. You’re on, I think, floor 103, part of that ledge has a glass floor you can stand or crawl on.

If you get (relatively) nice weather the Central Park zoo is an option. I realize you guys are near a first class zoo but this one is nice, manageable size, centrally located. Penguins and polar bears are popular.

I was thinking about The Edge, but thought it might be a bit too intense for him. I’m trying to decide between going up to the deck at the Rock or making the trip to the Empire State Building. While Empire has more historical significance, we’re going to be at Rockefeller Center anyway for the tree and hot chocolate.

Rockefeller is a zoo as you know or can imagine. Whatever you’re thinking of doing there, get tickets/reservations in advance.

Bouchon Bakery on Rockefeller plaza is a great place for breakfast goods. Not a lot of places to sit but you’re only three short blocks from the hotel.

At least when I last walked by it which was Memorial Day weekend. Winter it’ll be shorter due to the weather but probably more than you’re willing to tolerate. Especially Fin, who won’t understand what the fuss was all about.
