The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I’ll challenge that. Comedy is an art, not a science, and the quality of the joke is far more important than the quality. I thoroughly enjoy Airplane, but would not rate it as the funniest.

In your opinion, what's the funniest movie?

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

@LuFins-Dad I'll sort of agree with you.

I think the metric used in that post is the number of jokes in the movie. Quantity ≠ Quality.

For pure slapstick, Airplane is the best.
For pure offensive humor: Blazing Saddles tied with The Producers
For pure parody humor: Young Frankenstein.

            Most 3 Stooges (with Curly)
            Roadrunner cartoons
            Simpsons
            Green Acres
            Airplane
            Fish Called Wanda

Animal House has to be in the top five.

We're mostly citing older stuff. A list from 2000-2023:

Superbad, Anchorman and maybe Napoleon Dynamite make the Top 25?

Our choices reflect our ages (and where we grew up) more than the quality or quantity of humor in movies.
