Agree with George that the flames were hotter in 1968, and there were the assasinations which added a dimension. I don't know that things were so short lived. Kent State didn't happen until 1970. In some ways, I'm not sure that things completely settled down until the Nixon resignation. His sacrifice and the end of the Vietnam War seemed to calm the waters.

A woman I worked with left the country in 1968 for Australia and stayed there for 20 years, thinking the end was near.

Still never been to Portland. Oregon anyway.

        Only non-witches get due process.

It's nice there. They don't really have this shit there. (Well anyway, they don't have the numbers.)

          Please love yourself.

In 68 the war was real and so was the draft.

Now the racism and so on is mostly nonsense.

There are certainly no government types advocating anything like racism, not even close.

            The TDS is mostly nonsense.

It turns out that Mr. Nixon was a criminal. Not yet fully developed in 1968, but on his way.

I live just a couple miles from Clackamas Town Center. This is the shopping mall where the Trump rally started and moved downtown where one of them - a Patriot Prayer member - was shot and killed.

I was in Oregon City helping my widowed FIL clean out the attic so missed all the craziness.

That was Sunday night. Then last evening, on Monday, we had several minutes of wailing sirens. Kind of close by but not sure what was going on. I assumed maybe more protesters or something.

Then this morning about 3:15 I woke up to more wailing sirens. Farther in the distance. Just going and going again for 5 or 10 minutes and not moving much that I could tell. I wondered if Antifa had decided to return the favor to Clackamas. I got up and searched the news but there wasn't anything live. I wondered if I might see marchers coming down the street and which of my guns I might have to grab. I recorded the local station that runs from 5 - 7 a.m. but there was nothing on it. No clue what was going on.

Hopefully the craziness won't get any closer to you. Stay safe.

My wife's cousin runs a fugitive apprehension team for the Marshals. They do not play.

Tell me this is a joke lol.

I heard he claimed self-defense. But my understanding was that the man he shot was only armed with pepper spray.

Mr. Wheeler seems to be deranged.

Sadly, for Portlanders, a few years back they passed a rule to go to run-off elections. So, the choice is between feckless liberal Wheeler or a socialist,
Iannarone. Pretty sure Wheeler will be re-elected. There is no other viable choice.
