But the entire industry is on the brink...

As is often what happens, "people vote with their wallet".

Tough situation and I am not sure there are any easy answers.

I made shrimp yesterday and when buying it I was reflecting on how many shrimp there were in the display case, and got to wondering just how many shrimp are sitting in similar cases throughout the country.

Did some quick math and we seem to eat around 50MM shrimp a day in this country.

It's tough down there this year. The price is really depressed. If crawfish hadn't been through the roof and people had shrimp boils instead of crawfish boils, it would have been awful.

They should just market it as wild caught and charge more. Works for salmon.

I was surprised shrimp was the most popular seafood. I could have guessed tuna or salmon. They had this graph in the video:

@Jolly said in They just taste better...:

Look on the bright side: inflation is moderating!

Look at the bad side...As these guys go out of business, prices will skyrocket.

Yes, but US shrimps are only 10% of the total.

(Having said that, I think it is important to protect industries, but US people have to be aware that this WILL result in higher prices.)
