The unions have some absurd demands.

Timing betrays a cynical outlook by their leadership. If Biden lets it continue the economy takes a hit. If he kills it labor will be mad. I hope he kills it. Labor hasn't been that supportive anyway.

Biden said he's not going to interfere because "I don't like Taft-Hartley."

              Agree.

They complain about having to work long hours and that justify's their salary demands, yet they reject any automation that would reduce the workload.

The ILA contract that expired on Monday shows that the starting pay for dockworkers was $20 per hour. Pay rises to $24.75 after two years, $31.90 after three and tops out at $39 for workers with at least six years on the job.

Meanwhile, the ILA is demanding a 77% increase over the duration of the contract, with a $5 increase each year of the contract. Workers would make $44 the first year, $49 the second and up to $69 in the final year.

As more and more jobs are being taken over by robots/automation, there needs to be a way to keep the masses fed and working with some dignity, else you get revolutions.

There will be a lot of jobs building and maintaining robotics. Who could have imagined the explosion in IT jobs? Computers were going to put us all out of work.

Some buddy. The guy and his union endorsed Biden in 2020, and they have donated $100K to democrats this cycle, and $5K to republicans.
