This thread made me smile.
Thank you.
Bunneh's are so cool
I love our cats, but I think rabbits might be my favorite. Bagels keeps things pretty hilarious. He can run over, snoot-boop a cat, check out the upstairs, dive into our dirty clothes bin, jump out with a sock stuck to him, creep over to the electric fireplace and sploot right in front of it in literally the span of 8 seconds.
Turns out he's quite a fan of books, too. To eat that is. He shredded some literary journals from like 2007 so I just let him have them. No big loss and he can only reach the bottom-shelf stuff anyway, so I made the proper adjustments and now if he chews on any more of them it's because I put them there to allow for it.

"Sploot."
I love that word.
I showed Mrs. George your pics from tonight. She said, "They're great, but so short-lived."
Nope - domestic bunnehs are good for 8-10 years.
D1 had pet rats for a while - cute, smart, loving...but only 2-3 years.
Please keep us posted. Like I said, this thread made my day.

Will-do! And yeah, they live longer than I think most folks give them credit for. His particular breed of loppishness can live as long as 14, so he'll probably be okay for awhile.

If/when you feel like it, send us a picture of Bagels' enclosure. This thread makes me want to get a bunneh. In the condo, we've only done bunny-sitting.
I can see putting him in Sidney's room (yeah, he has a room to himself) and they could entertain each other.
-
Sure thing. It's easier to see in the daytime—at night the lighting's so crap that it makes the photos hard to see, but basically he's using Puck's old enclosure. It's a temporary one as he's only there at night, but it's roomy and we all have the unspoken understanding that he could get out if he really wanted to. We have a blanket that serves as a soft ceiling so he doesn't hurt himself if/when he does.

Very cute bunny. Sounds like he has an endearing personality too.
Yeah, we really lucked out with him.
Puck was great, too, just a very different kinda rabbit.
I think they get a bad rap because, not being very vocal, they're mistaken for being "cage pets." But they definitely have their own personalities and like being among their people.

Bagels has run of the house the rest of the time?
Is he litter-box trained enough for that?
-
Thanks, @blondie! (Great to see ya!)
@George-K Eh, close enough for government work. We might close up the upstairs at night just so he can't get into mischief up there. Or I'll keep him in my room a bit during the day.
It's not that he never, ever poops where he shouldn't. But almost never, he definitely uses his pen more, when he does poop outside of it it's either so dry it's easy to vacuum up or he immediately eats it. (As you probably know, this is healthy for bunnehs.)
In the past week of hanging with me during the day in my room, like 2 pebbles came out.

Cute pics!!!

Bro likes his paper.
@George-K This is his pen. It's pretty makeshift as he spends most of his time roaming the house. He likes doinghis own thing but in the same room as everyone else.
Every day to every other day we swap the tarp and clean out his stuff. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

@George-K said in Bunday Update!:
So the enclosure is just sitting on a tarp? Does he have any bedding on it?
He's got a bunny bed he never uses. One of his favorite spots is where he's in right now. He never lies on the carpet.
-
Yeah, he's got a litterbox in there, along with a basket of hay and a food bowl.

For the rest of the cage, I just put newspaper and fleece on top. You just have to change it out maybe once every week, depends how good they are with the litter box. That’s what I used when I caged Whopper and Molly. Bunnies usually automatically pee in one spot but some are better than others. Whiskers was never caged, he was perfect with his box.
All store bought cages are too small for bunnies and it’s going to smell much faster. I built a “C&C cage” for them but now you can buy them. Building it yourself is obv cheaper.
Their bunny is the same breed as whopper 🥰. Theyre such a sweet breed but they’re going to need a solid vacuum in the spring, they shed SO much.

So, check this. We've been trying to get him to use his own litter box, which he had done decently enough. But the problem was, he'd bust out of his pen every night. So now we more or less let him go free about the house.
Bro actually goes downstairs to use the cat's litterboxes. Not only that but when he was in my work room for awhile, I forgot to leave the door open so he did the stompy thing to let me know. I opened the door, he went down, did his business then came back up.
We didn't try to get him to do this. He just started doing it.
Photos because why not.
