Critical Drinker had a review of the first episode of "Penguin", and he (!) loved it.

The series picks up right after the end of "The Batman."

Anyone seen the flick? Any good?

The thing is, the gritty crime stories around Batman have been done. Hell, Gotham did a good job of it. It’s getting a little old.

I saw the movie. It wasn't any sort of traditional "Batman". He was some sort of outsider, but interesting and cool and different. And I like thin women in general, but Zoe Kravitz was way beyond humanly possible. I liked the movie and although it had lots of weirdness it was somehow enjoyable.

How many times has the Batman story been rebooted now. Three? Four?

I enjoyed the Michael Keaton Batman, despite Jack Nicholson. That was just a bit too campy for me.

I believe "Penguin" is on HBO (or Max, or whatever they call themselves these days).

You’re complaining that Batman was too campy. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Adam West, but….

Well, that was sort of my point. I really hated the West Batman, and when I saw Nicholson in the Keaton version, it was a smh moment.

We’ll group the Keaton-Val Kilmer movies as being the same “Batman”. The. You had the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, then the Ben Affleck version, followed by the newest…

Then there were the more recent related TV Adaptations - Gotham, Pennyworth, and the CW shows…

And don’t forget the new Joker movies that seem unrelated to any of the Batman versions so far…

I remember when the Adam West Batman was huge, we saw the 1943 or 1949 Batman movie at the Rialto Theatre in Roslindale Square. They could fill the theatre with anything Batman.

They've certainly brushed all the teenage "ward" Robin shit right under the carpet.

I put it right up there with George Clooney, but that's just me.

I always felt that the villains were easily the best part of Batman, even the camp ones.

And isn't it a bit hard for anybody to wander around in a black rubber suit without being camp?
