On Tuesday, around 4:30 a.m., police responded to Williams’ 911 call at his home in the 10100 block of South Aberdeen. But the cops noticed he “appeared anxious and. changed the details of the incident on numerous occasions.”
First, Williams told officers that the shooter fired from a white sedan, and the bullet came through his open front door, not a window, as he told the 911 operator, according to a CPD report. According to the report, Williams explained that Smith, 37, initially complained of back pain before realizing she had sustained a gunshot. It said Williams claimed he put his finger into the bullet wound to stop the bleeding before Smith collapsed and he called for help.
Officers said they determined that the bullet entered Smith’s upper left chest area and exited through her back. They also found a bullet, a fired bullet, and an empty cartridge casing lying on the floor near Smith, according to their report. Investigators did not see any signs of bullet damage outside Williams’ home, they reported.
Williams eventually admitted to shooting Smith, officials said in court filings. He allegedly told investigators that he pointed the gun at Smith and then shot her after she asked him to stop.
