Always amazes me how a player in any sport, but especially football, can change teams or his current team brings in a new scheme and coach, causing a player to become significantly better.

A lot of people thought Trevor Penning was a 1st round bust. Drafted during COVID, injured his rookie year, he looked a bit better his second year, but the OL coach Doug Marrone benched him after five starts.

It absolutely wrecked the guy's confidence.

FF to this year...The Saints fire their OL coach, draft another tackle in the first round, hire a veteran OL coach and move Penning from LT to RT. Preseason started a little rough, but the guy has constantly gotten better.

He may not ever be an All-Pro, but he's playing much, much better. The new scheme features zone blocking and more running plays. It plays to what Penning does best and you can literally see his confidence growing.

From a 1st round bust to a decent starting RT. All it took was a different coach and a change in scheme...

Good blocking is infectious. Even the wide receivers were throwing some good blocks yesterday...
