    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/03/nyregion/linda-sun-arrested-hochul.html

F.B.I. agents early Tuesday arrested a former deputy chief of staff to Gov. Kathy Hochul and her husband at their home on a cul-de-sac on Long Island’s North Shore, officials said.

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn are expected to ask a judge to unseal an indictment against the aide, Linda Sun, 40, and her husband, Chris Hu, 41, later in the day, people with knowledge of the matter said.

Because the charges against them remain sealed, they were not immediately disclosed. But a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York confirmed Tuesday they had been arrested and said they would appear before a federal judge in Brooklyn later in the day.

Neither Ms. Sun nor Mr. Hu could be reached on Tuesday and it was not clear if they had retained lawyers.
Six weeks ago, F.B.I. agents descended on the cul-de-sac in Manhasset and searched the couple’s $3.5 million five-bedroom house in an early-morning raid, but the basis for that action and the crimes they were investigating were unclear at that time. Neither could be reached for comment after the raid and they did not respond to voice mail and text messages.

Ms. Sun has worked in state government for nearly 14 years, holding a variety of positions, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She began in the legislative branch, working as chief of staff to an assemblywoman, Grace Meng, who is now a congresswoman. Ms. Sun then worked in various positions in the administrations of both Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and Ms. Hochul, according to the LinkedIn profile.

                https://nypost.com/2024/09/03/us-news/ex-hochul-and-cuomo-aide-husband-acted-as-foreign-agents-for-china-bombshell-indictment/

The former high-ranking aide for Gov. Kathy Hochul who was arrested along with her husband Tuesday acted as a foreign agent for China in exchange for millions of dollars in kickbacks and fancy perks such as salted duck, according to a bombshell indictment.

The damning 64-page indictment accuses Linda Sun, 41, and her husband, Christopher Hu, 40, of spending their shady gains on a gaudy new $4 million house in Manhasset, a $2 million second home in a Honolulu high-rise and luxury cars such as a 2024 Ferrari.

Sun shadily used her position under Hochul and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo — who are unnamed but clearly referenced in the court documents — to turn the governor’s office into a virtual mouthpiece for the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Community Party, the indictment contends.

At several points, Sun bragged about effectively blocking Cuomo and Hochul from making statements that arguably recognized Taiwan, including when the disputed island sent 200,000 much-needed masks to New York during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, documents state.

She also blocked representatives from Taiwan’s government from visiting the New York governor’s office, according to the documents.

Seems kind of stupid? Or maybe she bragged over text messages she thought were private

The response from the mainland China Foreign Ministry when asked about this was that they "do not comment on US domestic crime incidents." LOL
