Can't be an NFL owner and an analyst, thus saith NBC.

I think it's bullshit. The Shield needs Tom Brady. It needs Drew Brees. It needs Troy Aikman or Curt Warner. It needs them in the booth or studio to help explain the game and make it interesting.
Yet, I think it's good for the league if former players are part of ownership.

No it doesn’t. Some of those guys make pisspoor announcers. And as for Brady, it’s really stupid. The public eye tarnishes his brand.
The league will not suffer one iota if those guys are not in the booth or in the owners box.

And frankly, the best commentators/analysts that are former players are the big guys. The linemen. They are frigging hilarious, and give you a better understanding of the intricacies of the game.

Yes, it does. And we can quibble about linemen vs. QBs or whatever. Former players make some of the best color guys. I also think former players are beneficial as shareholders.
I think if we would have had more former players as shareholders, the concussion issue would be solved. I think if we had more former players as shareholders, we'd have a roster expansion to 58 players. I think if we had more former players as shareholders, we'd be looking harder at player injuries and taking steps to mitigate causes with things like natural turf fields, helmet design and scheduling.
