    @George-K said in 20% increase:

    Our usage kWh is up - 0.5% this year vs. last.

    Half a percent.

    I can say that, can't I? I mean, it's not like I'll offend anyone, right?

        I got an email that my monthly electric bill will be going up 20% starting next month.

        My year over year usage has not changed.

          Whenever the new solar batteries come online, it will get better.

              Electricity in Illinois:

              https://www.citizensutilityboard.org/blog/2024/01/11/new-electric-rates-for-comed-and-ameren-customers-in-2024/

              And I searched for anything about ComEd rate increases (I was assuming you're ComEd). I found this:

              https://energycentral.com/news/citizens-utility-board-statement-capacity-market-price-spike-will-impact-june-2025-com-ed-bills

              @George-K

              Eventually I also found something on your town, which seems to still be doing electric aggregation. They have opted for green energy with MC Squared, whose rate is more expensive than ComEd's and which is going up soon. Will send it via PM.

              CUB on aggregation:

              https://www.citizensutilityboard.org/electric_municipalaggregation/

              I was very active with the implementation of aggregation in our town when it first came about, but AH has dropped out of the program because it was too expensive and all of us are ComEd customers unless we individually contract with other electricity suppliers. As the CUB link states, any resident can opt out of participating in a town's aggregation initiative and just go straight ComEd.

                5% more expensive per kWh.

                  You are all lucky bastards compared to the ridiculous money we have to pay per kWh over here.

                    Well, my local plant has two sides...One burns lignite, the other natural gas. Both are fairly plentiful down here, so rates aren't horrible.

                    My favorite time of the year is around the bend and I'll swap over to my wood heater. When that happens, maybe I can get the bill (I'm all electric) down to $75-$85.
