It’s an interesting argument and not satisfied by the offer.

If I give 10k to the Trump campaign, that’s a violation of law. Giving another 10k to the Harris campaign doesn’t rectify it, it would be a second violation.

The group is worried that a corporate entity -one engaged in a free exchange of ideas - gives a major political figure a two hour interview, while offering his political opponent a similar interview (which she has so far turned down)?

While simultaneously ignoring the fact that most of the media have been in the tank for Harris?

      Sorry, that's just BS.

I would assume that the Harris campaign's gripe is that it was Musk, who is supporting Trump. A valid complaint. Harris would not be handled as kindly as Trump was.

So, are there any public Harris supporters who would do a conversation like that? Probably, but they don't have the reach of Musk. Hosting it on X would be an alternative.

Don't forget that Time Magazine reached out to her for an interview and she declined EVEN AFTER they put her glowing picture on the cover.

        "Scheduling conflict?" BS.

The complaint isn’t one of fairness. It’s accusing Musk of essentially making an illegal campaign contribution.

The remedy, if they have a case, would be for the Trump campaign to pay X for the value of the interview.

And, of course, the Harris campaign would decide what that value is, right?

ETA: I made my comment without looking at the actual story.

They allege it was a "Virtual campaign event." How many times has Fox broadcast almost an entire Trump rally? I've seen MSNBC linger on a Harris rally for half an hour.

A news station showing a rally is one thing. If you and I purchase a half hour prime time slot to show a campaign event, that’s a campaign contribution well over the maximum allowed.

Where does what Musk did fall on that spectrum? We’ll see.

                      I agree with @Jolly

Twitter is one of the new "news" sources. News sources do interviews with political people all the time. Nothing wrong with that. Weather he was easy or not on President Trump does not make a difference.

So, when Hannity did an hour interview with Trump or when he did an extensive interview with RFK, (and offered Biden, later Kamala) Rupert Murdoch should be sued?
