Mississippi attorney accused of bringing contraband into correctional facility
A Mississippi attorney was arrested on Thursday, August 8 for allegedly trying to introduce contraband into a correctional facility.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones announced Daniel Sidney Dale was charged with two counts of conspiracy and three counts of introduction of contraband to a correctional facility.
The sheriff said Dale was posing as legal counsel for some Hinds County detainees and was allegedly smuggling cellphones and other contraband during visitations.
During a visitation on Thursday, Jones said Dale was found to be in possession of several items of contraband and cellphones. He was detained, questioned and later charged.

“Attorney Dale, in a trusted position responsible for the constitutional rights of arrested suspects, jeopardized the safety and integrity of the Hinds County Detention Facilities and the public. This investigation is ongoing and more charges and/or arrests are possible,” said Jones.Dale made his initial appearance in court on Friday, August 9. His bond was set at $75,000.
