Imitating the "cool" Turkey shooter after he won.

Why? Kid’s got an American Dad, born in LaFayette, all of his schooling has been in Louisiana… He’s an American. Why compete under another flag? It’s not like the foreign born athletes that compete in American collegiate or pro sports but compete in the Olympics under their native flag… It’s also not like the athletes that have a parent from another country, and aren’t good enough to make Team USA, so compete for their other eligible country… This kid’s the best in the world and has been through 2 Olympics. Do why compete for Sweden?

His mom's Swedish. She met his dad at LSU. Heck, his brother was the all-time hits leader for LSU baseball.
He was raised in Lafayette and I've known about him since the early days of high school. My old pastor was a nationally ranked collegiate poll vaulter back in the day and knew Armand's dad pretty well. That community of guys is pretty tight knit.
Since Duplantis' dad is his coach, I wonder about the Swedish thing myself. I know the young man is bilingual, having been taught Swedish by his mom. He didn't compete in college, so maybe it had something to do with money.

According to Wiki the Swedes offered his dad a job as the national coach if he went over to them
