@George-K Quite. I love these floors. We didn’t build this house; we couldn’t afford to. @Mik Despite our diligence and proper inspections, this house had to undergo major exterior and interior structural renovations. Let’s just say the repairs exceeded half the value of the home. So, we’ve recovered from that; it’s a safe house now, and we want out.

You have one thing I really love there which is a large, open dining area. It’s most of the reason we bought this house.

 Your cabinets @Mik look divine. Those are spot on lovely colors! Do you know if you chose a satin or semigloss finish?

        Thanks! I’d say satin.

That is one seriously nice kitchen. I like the finish on the floor cabinets and how they differ from up top. Do the cats get up top on the counter? Are you going to have to do the aluminum foil thing?

          Please love yourself.

They really don’t t very often, but we have lots of high places for them to be on.

Looks great, Mik. We refinished our kitchen cabinet doors fours years ago. We decided to do it ourselves. Turned out fine. A lot of work though. Started in June and finished end of September. Had to make a painting booth inside the garage.

Thanks! Yeah, I did the same thing in 2005. A LOT of work. I have since developed an aversion to that kind of stuff.

                  Looks wonderful.

I will never, ever, remodel anything again.

I wondered. You were asking about quartz and I just thought your place is too new to remodel.

I love our granite, however. It's most unusual.

2 of our 3 kitties (R.I.P.) used to rub up on every corner they could. Over time I could see these greasy dark rub spots. It especially bugged me in our last house where we had the white MDF cabinets. I was constantly bending down cleaning corners. My husband wants a cat again. And one cat always leads to 2 and so on with us. I gotta plan ahead with the cabinets.

Luna does that. She claims everything all day. Other than that she is the perfect cat - never, ever does anything she’s not supposed to. Stella, on the other hand, has two speeds - asleep and busy, busy, busy.

I remember putting water bottles up high on top around the periphery of the fridge to prevent our boy cats from jumping from the island or lower cabinets. Once they got on top of the fridge they’d jump to the upper cabinets and chase each other. Scary, especially when mama is cooking below.

I have an aversion to starting a project of that sort. Once started however I have greater aversion to not doing it with at least a degree or two of professionalism or worse, leaving it incomplete. I actually convince myself I am enjoying it all.

I used to actually enjoy it a lot. About 60 or so a switch just flipped. Not sure why. I guess 25 years of painting, trenching, remodeling, tearing down and putting up walls, adding exterior doors and rebuilding the deck just used it up. I was a perfectionist then, but no longer.

Sadly I just came in from staining three 8' shoe mouldings. Got a perfect match to what's there now.

But I hated it. I hated going to Menard's...I hated finding the mouldings (farthest possible corner of the store). Then I hated going to the OTHER farthest corner of the store to find wood stains. I hated the agony of picking the right stain, then schlepping up to the cash register. Then I hated setting up the saw horses. Staining them was hard on the back because my saw horses are just above knee height. But they look great.

                                      I still hate it.

When we bought the house all of the woodwork, other than the crown moldings, was painted white.

                                          We spent months stripping paint.

I woulnd't wish that task on anyone. Well, maybe on some people, but almost not anyone.
