"Hey Siri, play the Well-Tempered Clavier on Apple Music"

So, I just asked Siri to do that, and "she" pulled up the Barenboim version of WTC.
I've never really listened to it closely.
It's remarkable. Very romantic, of course, but legit. I love the way he brings out voices in the c-major and c-minor fugues that I never really heard, even though I play them both! What a unique approach.
Give it a listen, particularly at 0:55 or so:

I’ve heard Barenboim play the WTC live in Tel Aviv.
Romantic? Goddamn foot was nailed to the pedal.
After years of listening to the WTC by more conservative players, (Gould Schiff and even Keith Jarrett) I barely recognized it.
But hey, Barenboim gets a pass on everything here because he is so goddamn talented, and of course speaks hebrew so he wins the crowd by chatting in the native tongue.
Small hands though.

Yeah, that was pretty obvious in the recording as well. But, as I said, I really liked the phrasing in those two examples.
