God, how awful.
I know Southport quite well. It's a fairly quiet Lancashire seaside town.
The guy was supposedly living in Banks, which is just a village. We used to go for bike rides around there.

That report says he was an asylum seeker, but elsewhere I've seen it that the police said he was born in Cardiff. I guess we'll find out, but Banks seems an odd place for an asylum seeker to live.

They released the name of the kid accused of the attack, presumably to stop all the speculation there has been. He's the British-born son of Rwandan immigrants.

The original report that George linked to, and that now appears to have disappeared, got everything about him wrong, including his name, and almost certainly his religion. This hasn't stopped some of the usual people from trying to take advantage of the horror.
Who would make up this kind of information? As if you needed a reason to hate the media more....
