The proof is in their choice of landscaping.

Howard Finemen, don't you have anything better to do, like re-arranging your sock drawer?

I did not know that you follow Mr. Fineman, global editorial director of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group.

In any case, I rather like Ms. Melania Trump's new Rose Garden design.

There is definitely more money in rhetoric than straight news. Fineman used to be legit, just look at that tweet to see what became of him.

I keep waiting for a non-partisan, straight news service to arise.

Well, if you look at the before pic you see no roses, lots of trees which mean shade which means no roses. Now there are roses.

It doesn't matter. The next occupant will redo it and, if Democrat, the press will bow and scrape about the brilliance.

Those are roses you see. FLOTUS prefers pastels.

                  https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/home/melania-trumps-rose-garden-redo-draws-criticism-but-its-long-overdue/2020/07/28/05b81754-d0c4-11ea-8c55-61e7fa5e82ab_story.html

It is evident that once the Rose Garden is renovated, it will have a different feel to it, with some 200 rose bushes planted in pastel colors. The garden will feel more open and sunnier but perhaps less interesting. It will feel the loss of the crab apple trees, which are full of effervescent blossom in April, decorative fruit in September and a sculptural quality in the winter. They served as a reminder of Washington’s seasonality, and the preciousness of time.

The "before" photo looks better, but it was shot at a different time of the year and in better weather.

Lawn darts. Maybe croquet for when entertaining foreign dignitaries.

More practical for a press conference or announcement in today's times.

Exactly what I was thinking. It allows for use of the porticos without trees blocking the view.

Fineman is probably part of an effort to tee up something about Trump’s speech this week , presumably in the Rose Garden.

Conspiracy theory of neo fascist backdrop. Competing with Q-anon for sure.

My thing is, how many parades, fascist or otherwise, have been held there? Are we just saying things that make us feel a certain way now, is that our level of discourse?

He thinks they are fascists because the Trumps took out a couple of cherry trees and changed the color of the flowers? Good God, he would think I'm Mussolini if he saw what I did to my yard...

Oh, she did a knot garden! I like the view from the top. And the path around the grass makes it a nicer walk.
