Honor The Scholarship

They don't have to, but I think rules need to change. I think any young athlete that suffers an injury they cannot come back from, should have his entire athletic scholarship honored and have the opportunity to graduate from college debt free.

I don't know much about this, but my ignorance has never stopped me from voicing an opinion.
If I were a student whose education's funding depended upon a "scholarship" which is awarded based on some athletic performance, I would be sure to have my attorney scrutinize the document for a "what if...?"

A student getting an academic scholarship to LSU will have his choice of attorneys, pro bono.

May be there can be an insurance product for something like this, insurance that can be sold to the student athletes or to the universities/colleges.

That does exist, especially for the top guys. There's also NIL money.
But a kid like this is an in-state three star. He made the field on special teams, but may or may not make the field doing a lot else.
LSU, like all Div 1 schools, has a maximum of 85 scholarships for the football team. You will have guys walk on and play without scholarship, trying to get one.
Athletic scholarships for football players (and others) are usually a series of 1-year awards.
