I don’t actually think Trump getting assassinated would do anything to quell the existential threat narratives that are the beating heart of the American left.

I don’t think a natural cause death would do anything to quell the narratives either. Those narratives are self sustaining at this point. People have forgotten what it’s like not to believe them.

There is no difference between that and wishing the shooter had not missed.

There is, because in practice the effects of him dying from, say, a heart attack or pancreatic cancer, would be very different from an assassination. Even this attempt will have a worse impact than a natural death, such is my prediction anyway.
