Don't do Facebook. My life isn't that interesting and I do not long to feed another algorithm for somebody else's profit.

Was passing by the local high school this morning and they had a message on their sign telling students and parents to check their Facebook page for for school updates. That kind of hit me the wrong way. The schoolboard has within its website, a webpage for every school. Why not use your school's homepage? Why use Facebook? If the person looking at the Facebook page is a not a Facebook member, will they see all the content they need to?

It’s a lot easier to post on social media than to update a web page.

True, but I wish not to feed the algorithm...Surely there's somebody smart enough to update a webpage...

You can either visit a typically rather badly designed and cumbersome-to-navigate school or town website, or you get an alert on FB. I get all my town alerts via FB.

          I was only joking

Yes. You will reach more people on social media.

I manage both our gallery website and our gallery facebook page. It is much faster to post an event on facebook than it is to update one on the website. MUCH faster.

Plus your post will be pushed out to those interested rather than them having to go specifically to your website.
