    Helicopters, including those used for emergency medical transport, cannot fly when it's too hot out there.

          The thinner the air, the longer the runway needed.

          High altitude and high temperature make the air thinner.

          If you are high and hot the runway might not be long enough.

          Density altitude is a measure of air density that is calculated by correcting pressure altitude for nonstandard temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity. It's an important concept in aviation because it directly affects an aircraft's performance
