    I've watched only a bit.

Just like the DNC convention, it looks like an informercial.

    "But wait! There's more!"

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

They decided run against her instead of Joe. Can’t say I blame them.

I don't expect any of the democrats here to see that though. If you had sense enough to see it, you wouldn't be a democrat to start with.

So, is Jerry Falwell, Jr. still speaking at the Republican National Convention? Or is he just gonna sit in the corner and watch?

Bill Clinton spoke at the democrat convention, so that opened the door....

People do bad things. At least most Republicans at the party level will admit that and censure them in some way. Democrats will either celebrate them or ignore the transgression. That's a generalization, but contains lot lot of truth.

Donald Trump did bad things (e.g., while campaigning for office paid Ms. Stormy Daniels to keep silent regarding their extra marital affairs), the Republicans at the party level ignored the transgression and nominated him for the Presidency. This tells you your generalization is false. That “moral high ground” you think you are standing on is just a pile of excrement.

You know, I will be sad if Trump loses this election, since I feel Biden will be bad for the country.

I will, however, be actually overjoyed to watch some folks live through another four years of Donald J. Trump. It's good for people to have a purpose in life, but it's not good to have that purpose built on visceral hate. Perhaps they can find other purpose and meaning in their life, which is a good thing.

The Republican Party concerning its platform:

Basically the RNC resolved to not adopt any new platform in 2020. So it's either the 2016 platform continues to be in effect, or the GOP is not a party with no platform.

The resolution was attached to the 2016 platform, so may be they mean for the 2016 platform to continue to be in effect. Of course, in the 2016 platform, the GOP has some rather awkward bits, like multitude of grievances against the "current administration."

And Biden’s speech mirrored if not plagiarized his 2008 speech. Yawn,

As a democratic exercise, the Democrats as a party went through deliberations and came out telling the world what they stand for. The Republicans this time around not only skipped that exercise, but also passed a resolution saying any attempt to deliberate on party platform will be ruled “out of order.” The Republican Party is at a point where they cannot even tolerate anyone asking “what do we stand for.” The most charitable thing one can say with regards to the Republican Party is that they are still stuck in 2016, or that they have no platform — a party that stands for nothing and has no principle.

Nikki gave a very compelling speech.

Overall it was good. She left me scratching my head with the bit about how we’re not racist, its personal to her, etc then segues right into a story about how she was bullied for being the brown kid.

The Republican Party concerning its platform:

                                          https://prod-cdn-static.gop.com/media/documents/RESOLUTION_REGARDING_THE_REPUBLICAN_PARTY_PLATFORM.pdf

It's amazing how you're able to flip things completely backward to reality and then continue to think you should be taken seriously.
