Several people and pundits on both sides of the aisle have remarked positively on the job Tapper and Bash did at the debate. I've even seen it called by a GOP pol as the best job in the last quarter century. Good questions, little bias and they didn't try to take over the debate. In short, they were in the background and did a good job.

Heard something from O'Reilly yesterday. Yes, consider the source, but what he said made sense. O'Reilly said he had an unnamed source, familiar with the inner workings at CNN, that Mark Thompson gave instructions to Tapper, Bash and their producers about how he wanted the debate handled. With CNN's current rating problems, he saw the debate as an opportunity to burnish CNN's journalistic credibility with as wide an audience as possible.

    Thought that was interesting...

Yeah, and then they ruined it with the first 30 seconds of the post debate analysis. All I heard before I could change the stream was Joy Reid mentioning Biden’s cold and whining about Trump’s lies.

I commented on that in the first 15 minutes of the debate, iirc. They were pretty good other than that "You still have 82 seconds, Mr. President. Anything you want to add?"

Is Reid on CNN? I thought she is a MSDNC hack.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Should they have "fact checked" in real time when both President Trump and President Biden told falsehoods?

                Unnecessary. They were speaking.

I meant that when the candidate finished speaking, they could say, "President X, you just said that scientists said the moon was made of green cheese. Missions to the moon have proven that incorrect"

(But, i did not see the debate, and I dont know if the format would have allowed the moderators to get more feedback on their statements.

I am not sure I agree that there was no cross checking on the candidates.)
