I love our cats. Boris is the most chill cat ever. He loves everyone and tolerates everything. Is he the most affectionate cat? Nope. Maggie is so timid. As soon as anyone walks into the condo, she's gone. Hiding being my desk in the bedroom. When it's just Mrs. George and me, she's out, loving and sweet.
Today, D3 had some appointments and had to spend the day with us while she worked. She brought her dog, Bowie.
Now, Bowie is a sweet pup. Cockapoo mix. He's about 8 months old and just getting out of his puppy stage. He loves EVERYONE. He never has an accident, and only barks when things scare him.
I would love another dog but...
- I have no interest, and soon will have no ability, to take a dog for a walk 3-4 times a day.
- At my age, a dog might well outlive me (though I hope not). The thought of rehoming, etc scares me.
I love dogs (other than May, which we got for free - I had no use for that bitch).

My neighbors up the road (that's country slang for folks what live a half-mile from you) had to go to the nursing home last week. She's got an inoperable brain tumor. The old man is tougher than woodpecker lips and even though he's getting a paracentesis done periodically, he's stiil out there piddling in his yard. But he's not well enought to take care of his wife. He's in his mid-nineties, she's a couple of years younger.
The kids have been staying with them at night and on the weekends. They have a sitter during the week days. My neighbors really didn't want to go, especially the old man. The main reason for their reluctance?
Two cats. Both around six or seven years old. None of the kids want them and it seems nobody else does either. In a community with its share of barn cats, these are strictly climate controlled critters.
I do hope they find a home for them...
