Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting the 2024 Class. Inductees include:

    1. Drew Brees, Super Bowl MVP, two -time Offensive Player of the Year, 13 Pro Bowls, Walter Payton Man of the Year, five 5000 yard passing seasons, 54 consecutive games with a TD pass.
    2. Simone Augustus, NCAA Player of the Year X2, Three Olympic gold medals, WNBA #1 pick, WNBA Rookie if the Year, WNBA All-Star x8, 4 WNBA championships.
    3. Kevin Jackson, All-American wrestler and Olympic Gold Medalist
    4. Daniel Cornier, Olympic wrestler, UFC Light Heavyweight Champ, UFC Heavyweight Champ

Even an old Cincinnati Bengal player made the hall. Kerry Joseph was a UDFA with the Bengals, knocked around the NFL and CFL several years, winning one CFL MVP and a Gray Cup ring. That was after a great college career at McNeese.

All should be in Natchitoches Saturday for the ceremony.

Not to be confused with Nacogdoches TX, made famous in Blood Meridian.

      Education is extremely important.

Factoid... Natchitoches is the oldest city or town in the Louisiana Purchase, even older than New Orleans.

BTW, the two names are pronounced very differently.

One is Nak-a-doches(long O sound). The other is pronounced Nak-a- tosh.

Someone needs to listen to the Blood Meridian audio book.

Well, one university in one of the towns fields the Lumberjacks and the other the Demons.

                Hope that helps. 😛
