Boston Democratic mayor says criminals should not be prosecuted for theft, gang registry should be abolished

The mayor wants to publicize police personnel files relating to 'use-of-force,' which opponents say can potentially put officers in danger

FIRST ON FOX – Boston Mayor Michelle Wu advocated a soft-on-crime agenda by pushing to abolish the gang registry and arguing that criminal behavior – such as theft – should not be prosecuted.

Prior to being elected mayor, Wu filled out the "2021 Boston Mayoral Candidate Questionnaire" from Progressive Massachusetts, a 501c4 nonprofit organization that tracks and ranks how progressive elected officials are. According to its website, the group "intends to transform Massachusetts into a bold laboratory for progressive state initiatives."

In the document, Wu outlined her most progressive commitments, including her support for noncitizens voting in Boston's local elections.

I bet Haiti wishes it had a gang registry.

You know the old saw about you get what you pay for? Maybe our taxes ARE too low. Maybe if our taxes were taking more out of our pockets, we would be far more pissed and hold political candidates accountable? Maybe we would shop for better options…

Maybe if poor people in poor communities had to pay 10% of what they do have in taxes, they would insist on better politicians to clean up their neighborhoods and provide better schools and job opportunities.

In fact, I propose a 12% increase in benefits for the poor, but couple that with a 10% tax. They’ll actually see an increase in benefits, but I want them to actually see money going back out.

This is what happens when you elect people from Chicago to run your city.

I never thought much of Michelle Wu. You always knew where you were with Marty Walsh - union guy, pragmatist.

            I was only joking

To the OP, it’s one thing to check boxes on an activist groups questionnaire, another thing to enact policy.

Has she done any of these things? Or even proposed them?
