Maher's a smart guy. I was shocked to hear his ignorance on the J6 riot in which he asserted that cops were killed. When Kelly corrected him, he shrugged, waved his hand, and said, "Whatever."

He should know better.

He's probably heard about the cops that died in the time after J6, suicide in one case as I recall. Of course the people doing the messaging massage their words to make it sound like the cop died because of J6, then it becomes in the listener's head that the cop died in the riot.
