To my knowledge authorities in Bratislava have yet to make any definitive statements about the suspect or his motives other than his age and he is a Slovak.
But, yes it probably was politically motivated. Slovakia is a very polarised country and Fico himself has been a very polarising figure. Essentially a socialist turned nationalist. Never a wholesome transformation.
