Hell, I'd babysit the kid for free. He'd come back knowing a lot more about both single Malt Scotch whisky and the benefits of modern liberalism than any 5-year old you've ever met.

@LuFins-Dad Disneyland Paris can do for 1 day: pretty expensive, long queues and most attractio s are not fit for a five years old kid.

Maybe he's too young to take on a long trip to Europe?
I don’t know it’s that serious, and we’re talking Western Europe, so Ameri/English will be understandable (except for Scotland), so it won’t be that bad. And I generally think he will enjoy some of the castles and stuff, but… I do imagine that a fair amount of the trip will be pretty dry for him. That’s why we’re trying to find little pockets of things for him.
I’m personally voting against the Mediterranean Cruise, but will go along with it if necessary…

Spending 3 days at Disney in Paris as an American is the most bizarrely American way of making a vacation I can think of. Well, maybe together with eating at McDonalds while on vacation.
The Disney Park in Paris is a nightmare, in my opinion. I wouldn't go there if somebody would give me $500 per day. I've been there once, never again.
If it needs to be a theme park, why not go to a smaller park that has more attractions in the age range of your kid? There are many theme parks whose main audience is kids < 10 years old. You spend half a day there, don't feel exhausted and ripped off, no long queues etc. As a somewhat random example, this is a lovely small theme park for small children that I've been to a couple of times - but in most regions of Europe there are similar parks in a 100km range.

That’s what I was thinking but tried to convey it in a less obvious manner.
