“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

A wounded self-regard so colossal as to smother any spark of grace.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

Consider the viewpoint of the writer.

OTOH, there has been no grace received, so why should grace be given?

          That's what actual leaders do?

          Please love yourself.

I've never been around presidents, but I've been on the receiving end of decisions made in the governor's mansion. Believe me when I say the exercise of political power is often made with a glove concealing a set of brass knuckles.

I don't care for Nancy Pelosi, but she had a ruthless reputation as Leader and wielded her gavel like the hammer of Thor, especially within her own party. I'd peg her as the most transformative speaker since Gingrich.

                Note Trump's two major initiatives:

                1. Border & Immigration.
                2. Keeping his tax cuts.

If he can do that, next up I think are Schedule F and reforming Justice. I think he will get only part of what he wants, but I think a Clintonian firing of Justice Department prosecutors and a shake-up at the FBI leadership would be good for the country.

But I'm willing to put up with Trump's antics to get the judges. That is THE prize, particularly at the appellate and SCOTUS levels .
