Depressing news

Every quarter I get a magazine from Northwestern.
In today's issue, I see that (another) classmate has passed away, as well as a neurosurgeon who was in training with me. He finished a couple of years before I did, and we did a ton of cases together.
Makes me feel fucking old.

The neurosurgeon was a fascinating guy.
Very personable, gave the appearance of modesty (though I don't think he was really modest), and very approachable by everyone.
Undergrad at Georgetown, majored in English Literature, with a minor in Philosophy. Took a year off and studied Japanese literature, in Japan.
Medical school was Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Interned there and Northwestern, and then finished his training at Northwestern in 1979.
