They need to simply come up with a muscle-mass adjusted measure. GFR is probably fine for most people (such as me with stage 3 CKD - thanks transplant meds!). But the more advanced muscle-mass adjusted score could be calculated for people on a wait list.
Adjusting gfr based on race because ‘on average’ blacks have higher muscle mass always seemed ham fisted and anachronistic to me.
