It’s a pretty accurate meme in that the keffiyeh had been already enlisted -
arguably inappropriately as it is part of the traditional attire for Bedouin Arabs throughout the ME - by Western leftists to show support for the Palestinian cause since at least the 1970s. Originally it was homage to Yasser Arafat and the Soviet backed PLO.

This most recent appropriation of the keffiyeh however goes far beyond the Palestinian cause. Rather it has been yet again usurped in support of Hamas and its brand of fanatical Islam. Seems that the Palestinian Authority is no longer far enough to the left for the contemporary urban Jacobin in America.

Yeah, pretty much. As unpleasant as it is, the comparison to Trump has validity. It’s a sickness in our society.
