Americans aren't allowed to drink at 18

In some states, like Wisconsin, it was permitted for beer. A Friday night trip up to Kenosha was a common occurrence in the college crowd.

I believe it's still permitted if in the company of your parents. I had beers at a restaurant with D2 when she was 19.

Which really emphasizes the point that they're not considered to be fully adult. Obviously, they can join up and go fight in wars and shit, but they're not allowed to drink because it's bad for their health or something.

I think there’s more to it than health. In part it’s a lingering hangover from the Temperance Movement of the 19 Century and Prohibition. The roots there go into puritanical Protestant morality on sinful excess and immoral behaviours. Some provinces here went through it as well and were slow to change the law from 21. Most have the legal age set at 19. Alberta, Quebec and Manitoba have the age set in line with the age of majority - 18 years old. All three of those provinces have always maintained the strongest French roots tied to the Catholic Church in the country.

Our little town has a number of ties to the family of the famously miserable puritan Roger Williams - in fact, some of his extended family are buried right next door. There are large numbers of apple orchards here, presumably because vineyards would have been considered sinful. I feel the need to redress this imbalance.

      I was only joking

Apples make a thoroughly sinful brew known as cider. What makes cider doubly sinful is some of the best ciders in the world come from the predominantly Catholic region of France, Brittany where medieval monks maintained apple orchards and concocted deliciously sinful brews from the forbidden fruits of their monastic labours!

I was having supper at Soileau's in Opelousas, when a couple and about an eight year-old boy walked in and were seated. The waitress handed them a menu and took their drink order. She brought back three 🍺, sat one in front of the lady and two in front of the guy. As she left after taking their order, the guy pushed a 🍺 over to the boy.

This clip has been circulating for the last couple of days. The comments are priceless.

One of the best asks, "Should we add 'Ride of the Valkyrie,' or 'Yakkety Sax' as the soundtrack

But the absolute best is "Soy Team 6."

I wonder which -studies discipline she is majoring in. I wonder which useless “job” she is hoping to get as she becomes a life long economic parasite with a degree.

                            Education is extremely important.

The leader of the recent protests Columbia University has been revealed as the 40-year-old son of millionaire ad execs who lives in a four story Brooklyn townhouse.

James Carlson, who also goes by Cody Carlson and Cody Tarlow, was arrested by the NYPD and charged with burglary and illegal entry after he stormed Columbia's Hamilton Hall and re-named it 'Hind' Hall.

The accused, who is described as 'a long-time figure in the anarchist world' by officials, was also arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer during the violent G8 protests in San Francisco in 2005, according to the NY Post.

James is the son of Richard Tarlow and Sandy Carlson Tarlow, millionaire advertising duo who started Carlson & Partners together and were known for their cosmetic and fashion clients including Revlon, Victoria’s Secret, Ralph Lauren and Neutrogena.

James graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brooklyn Law School and later became an animal rights lawyer who clerked at the US District Court in 2013.

He also had a short stint as an undercover investigator on factory farms and slaughterhouses recording animal abuse, according to the publication.

James is believed to be married to model Kim Heyrman and has two children while living in a $3.4 million Brooklyn brownstone townhouse in New York.
