      What always gets me is how so many of these mobsters lived in relatively modest homes.

      Frank Niitti, who became boss of the Chicago outfit after Capone, had a home in my town.

      Of course, there are exceptions, a lot of them, but Nitti's house always struck me as being so non-descript.

            "Cadillac" Frank Salemme of the Boston mob used to live in the next town to ours - our kids used to go to the playground that was right around the corner (he'd moved out by that time)
