Besides the obvious play to be in a Trump Administration, does Vivek have a kernel of Truth?

It’s the magat version of ‘defund the police’. Both are overreactions to perceived systemic discrimination largely invented by tribalized media and grifters.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

I'm not sure. Defunding the police has serious and immediate consequences for the public.

If we had a major reorganization, cost cutting and power reallocation within the federal workforce, would anybody notice? Would it be detrimental? Or perhaps beneficial?

I think we could shave 20% of the total workforce, especially by cutting 50% of total middle management, and we could provide the same services.

We used to do that, didn't we?

'Vivek shuts the fuck up' would be more newsworthy than the thread title.

            I was only joking

I think he means that the title would imply this was a special and rare event, where the real special and rare event would be when Vivek wasn’t spouting off.

I agree. A more accurate title would read

The term 'Gobshite' springs inexplicably to mind.

                    As does 'Arse licker'.

                    An arse licking gobshite.

No tongue on the first kiss, though. The proprieties must be observed!

I think there are a lot of jobs federal and otherwise that only exist because some law or regulation requires that someone keeps tabs on some statistic. Healthcare and education are rife with them. My strong suspicion is no harm would come of eliminating the requirement and the accompanying positions.

It's like "higher" education, where administrators and staff outnumber students.

Or even just public education, K-12.

How many positions (as a percentage) are tasked with chasing Federal requirements or monies?

Where have many of our highly touted job gains come from?

                                Government, or government requirements.

We have created a better-paying WPA, without the Depression part.
